Personal History: Born Laine Breanne Kinsella on June 10, 1978. Laine was born in New York, New York to Candace and Rogers Kinsella. She was the third child, and the youngest- Miranda and Logan were twins, with Miranda being the eldest. She died a few months after she was born. Logan was three years older than Laine.
Laine never considered her life to be anything really special. Well, not at first, at least. Her childhood was fairly plain and boring. Her father worked as a lawyer, her mother as a teacher. Logan and Laine both went to the school Candace taught at. They both had close friends. Fairly simple.
Laine’s closest friends were Amanda and Lance. Amanda and her had become friends instantly; the fact that their mothers were friends helped as well. As for Lance, he became Amanda’s friend when she pushed him down the stairs for making fun of her, and became Laine’s friend through her. Laine couldn’t have had a closer bound with anyone, she didn’t think. She told them everything; her dreams, her fears, stuff she thought were cool and stupid. The only relationship that came close to being as strong was her relationship with her cousin Evan. He lived on the other end of the city, but she would always go see him. She probably saw more of him than she did of her own brother; they didn’t have a bad relationship, but it wasn’t great either.
Things took a turn for the worst when Laine was about twelve. That’s when her parents started growing apart. She and Logan could sense it coming; the agreed that the only thing worse than hearing it was waiting to hear it.
It took a year for her parents to announce that they were divorcing, and when they did, Candace also announced that she was moving out of the city, to a smaller town. And that Laine and Logan would come with her.
This broke Laine’s heart. The city was her home, a big part of her. Still, she knew arguing would do no good, and a few months later, she packed her stuff up and moved.
Things didn’t turn out perfectly there. Logan settled in fairly easily, while Laine had a hard time; the kids in her class didn’t want to be her friends, and she found it difficult to adjust to the small town.
In the time span of the next year, Laine found herself longing to go home more and more. She even suggested it, that she moved in with her dad. Neither parent would hear of it though. They claimed he was too busy with work.
Laine was desperate for people to hang out with, and the only people who would hang out with her were ‘bad influences’, as her mother put it. To this day, Laine still resents not listening to her mom about that. Most of them were on drugs, or had alcohol-related issues. Laine tried her hardest not to get mixed into the stuff, although it wasn’t always an easy task. The only reason she hung out with them was so she wasn’t alone.
October 1, 1992. That’s when Laine was all but stabbed in the gut, after receiving news that Lance had gone missing the week before. They had been so close…
It was her first slip up when it came to the drugs. She was so upset, she wasn’t really think straight. So she got into them. She found that they made it a bite easier to deal with. She kept it from her parents and brother. She knew they wouldn’t approve.
Laine took to stealing money from her mom to pay off debts, because she had a feeling she’d get suspicious if she was always asking for some. Candace didn’t notice at first, although she finally clued in that money was disappearing. She didn’t put two and two together for a good five months.
That was when it was announced that Amanda had also gone missing. Her body was found three weeks later.
This threw Laine completely off balance. She couldn’t take it. First Lance, who was still missing. Now Amanda.
She went on what some would call a bender. She was gone for a week and a half, and came home completely broken down. This is how Candace discovered her daughter was a druggie.
Laine didn’t fight when her parents got her some help. She wanted to get out of those ways. She had never meant to get into it in the first place. She didn’t argue when they suggested sending her off to boarding school, away from those who had started the problem. She was actually quite happy to pack up and go.
Things were a bit better there, but not much. Word got around about her drug addiction, which kept people away sort of. They were goodie-goodies, she thought anyways. She managed to pull herself together a bit more though; she tried her hardest to get over Amanda’s death, and to accept the fact that Lance was probably dead too.
It was at the end of grade eleven that she snapped again. She was spending the summer with her mother, who had started packing her again. It was time to go back to school. But Laine didn’t want to go; she wanted to go home, back to the city. So when her mom dropped her off at Grand Central for her train back to school, she never boarded.
She went to Evan’s. Going to her dad’s would be stupid, and she had nowhere else to go. Evan accepted her happily; he had missed his cousin a lot, and was more than happy to keep her secret if it kept her around.
Laine’s parents knew where she was, but left her for a bit. They figured it’d be easier than to fight her now about it.
It lasted two weeks before a new missing child poster was printed with Laine’s name on it.
She hadn’t expected Lance to return, but he did. He came over when she was home alone. Of course, this threw her off balance again, because he had been gone for so long. He told her she couldn’t tell anyone he was back though.
The next day, he came over again, and the first thing he said was that Amanda’s death was his fault. Laine was confused, so he began to explain. That he had come to see her, feeling bad for just abandoning her, but that is bloodlust had been too much, and he couldn’t save her. That she had died because of him.
He claimed his bloodlust was better though. So Laine wasn’t worried about being around him. He would come over in the day when the others were at work and school, and they would talk.
It took five days before he lost control though, and bit her. He managed to succeed in not killing her, but he had accidentally injected her with venom, changing her. He took her to where he was staying until she woke up, and then they left the city.
Laine stuck with Lance for about a year, learning as much as she could about being a vampire. However, she had never forgiven him for killing Amanda, and she knew she’d never forgive him for changing her. So eventually she left, promising to keep in touch, and lying.
She decided to fulfill one of her dreams and begin travelling the world, and has spent the last few years travelling North America and Europe. She decided to settle down for a bit, and ended up in Worchester.

Goals: To travel all around the world. To someday finish an actual film (Like, not just little projects, but a real one).
Secret
Personality: Laine’s personality isn’t set in stone. She has mood swings, resulting in different attitudes. However, most of the time she is an outgoing, headstrong, friendly person who enjoys making friends and living life to the fullest. She has a spitfire temper, and when it goes off, it’s not pretty. She is independent, and doesn’t trust just anybody. While she doesn’t like to be the center of attention, Laine doesn’t like to be invisible either. She doesn’t let people push her around. Laine has a bad habit of bottling up her emotions, and then letting them loose at the worst times. She’s not afraid to try new things or stand up for what she thinks is right. Sometimes, she can come off as a bit rude or ignorant, but she doesn’t try. Laine is a sucker for gossip, but doesn’t like to be the subject. She loves film. When it comes to romance, not really her thing. She’s a very good liar, and it’s hard to know what the truth is and what are lies. Sometimes she can go a bit space-cadet and forgetful. She tries her hardest to put the past behind her but doesn’t always succeed. Laine prefers to keep things personal that to go around, belting them out to whoever will listen.
