~OVERVIEW~
This roleplay is about having fun ^.^ Contrary to some people's beliefs, the moderators aren't a scary bunch. So if you have any questions or concerns about the RP, or if you are having a conflict with another RPer, feel free to contact one of the moderators and we'll help you sort things out. Also, these rules are mostly about common sense (we've had the occasional roleplayer who doesn't have any XP). Don't be afraid to come up with your own plots. We only ask that you discuss any large-scale plots with the moderators so that we can keep things from getting out of hand. Thank you!

THE RULES!
1) IMPORTANT! Before submitting a new character, please read through the rules found in the Character Applications topic.
-- You can introduce your character at anytime, however it is best that you do not introduce your character at an important moment in the roleplay. The main roleplay is set at Eastnor Castle - see the summary below for details.
2) NO GOD-MODING!!! This rule is important! This means controlling a character that belongs to someone else. You cannot control another person's character unless that person gives you permission to do so.
3) No needless chatting - if you find that you are spending more time having bracket conversations than you are roleplaying, then take your conversation to the Chat Room or the Cbox. I'm not too strict on this rule; I just don't want half a page filled with all talk and no roleplay.
4) No over-dramatics or plot-hogging. This rule is not here to restrict people from plotting. As long as the drama is planned and approved by a moderator, it's fine. The reason we have this rule is because we have had the rare newcomer who likes to take things too far and ruins the fun for everyone else.
-- Sudden dramatic moments such as character deaths are not welcome unless it is planned in advance, and it has been discussed with the moderators {this is because some people kill off their character simply because they want to get rid of them}.
-- Plot twists are allowed, as long as you speak to a moderator beforehand if it's a major twist. Don't be afraid to ask - we like to hear your ideas.
5) Spelling fiends beware! Even the best of us make mistakes with our spelling, so it is excusable. However, it gets really annoying trying to read if someone makes too many spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. Also, no text language. {Shya's lesson in grammar: "Let's eat Grandma!" OR "Let's eat, Grandma!" Punctuation, it saves lives XDD} It might also be helpful if you start posts in a word document where you can have a spell check option that can help you out :D
6) There is a set place to promote your fanfics, videos and forums found here. You are not permitted to promote them anywhere else in this forum, and if you do, your post will be deleted.
7) Please use common courtesy. We are all friends here, and we don't want arguments or insults. That means no inappropriate comments: that includes sexist, racist or homophobic remarks. If you're having a problem with someone, speak to a moderator about it - and don't be afraid to speak up even if the person picking on you is friends with the moderators.
8) No adult themes / lemons. {Lemons = sex scenes} Sure, some situations can get a bit heated, we know, but don't go into description or you posts will be deleted. This is a Beginner to Intermediate roleplay, we don't want to read any of that.
-- I'll allow a few references to sex, as long as you keep in mind that there are people as young as 13 roleplaying here.
-- Swearing is allowed but do not swear excessively. We don't want to hear cursing every few words.
9) No excessive PDAing - and by that I mean all your character seems to do all day/every day is make out. Kissing, hugging and snuggling is fine, as long as they take time to interact with other people.
-- Please don't have your character whine about being single too much - it's really annoying.
10) If you want your character to discover a new ability, then you must talk to one of the moderators about it first, and wait for them to approve it. We have this rule here because we don't want characters to have abilities that don't go along with 'freedom of choice', which is along the lines of godmodding.
11) Keep within the rules of the universe.
-- That means no otherworldly beings (such as talking swords)[Other than vampires, of course ^.~].
-- The natural laws of this world apply, such as it is not possible to pull an object out of nowhere (common sense, people).
-- Vampires/Humans/Halvies/Others who are rich should not throw their cash around like it means nothing to them. Money devalues over time, so the vampire in question should be good at saving and not buy simply anything that takes their fancy. It's Mary Sue-ish if they can be rich and at the same time be careless with money. It simply doesn't work that way in real life.
12) It's really sad this rule has to be added, but you cannot make multiple accounts to roleplay in this forum. It is unfair to the other roleplayers and gives you an unfair advantage of characters. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of roleplaying in this forum will result in banning of one or both of the accounts. Proboards allows us to see your IP address, so don't try to be sneaky about this and try to get around the rules.
13) We will allow some characters to have children, as long as certain conditions are met. All children that are not already in the roleplay [Like Drakara's child is], will be restricted to the Alternate Universe threads. We are going to be strict about this because we don't want babies popping up out of nowhere. First, the couple in question has to be long-termed. Second, the roleplayers have to have been with the first roleplay on Fanfiction.net for at least a year. Third, the roleplaying of these Users must be exceptional. Fourth, the child will count against your character limit for however many you're allowed [See Character Rules].
14) If, for any reason, you have been absent from the roleplay for an extended period of time and do not let anyone know, your character will have an asterick (*) placed beside your name. If you have not returned by the time we update the 'Character Lists and Info' topic, your character will be deleted. We usually leave the asterick beside the name for about a month before this happens, so you will have fair warning.
-- If you return to find your character deleted, you will need to resubmit your character sheet/application to the appropriate character template topic once more and wait to be accepted by a moderator.
15.) *VERY IMPORTANT!!!!* There is a topic called Mumbling Moderator Musings. There will be very important information, updates, and announcements found there that everyone should make a habit of checking up on.

Random tips:
i) Do not double post. (Some exceptions, but it's best if you stick to this rule) [There is a 'Modify Post' button above your reply in case you wish to edit]
ii) Character thoughts are written in italics.
iii) If a person is offline, don't try and interact with their characters. You can still post to them, but you will need to wait for their return before they reply. Again, no godmodding.
iv) Posts/Replies in the roleplay are written in 3rd person, and past tense.
v) Read the summaries for a general idea of what has happened so far.
vi) Warn us when you go offline, just a little bracket comment will do ^.^ [or a note in the Cbox]
vii) Write your character name at least once per reply. Also, when you first come online, state where your character is and, if relevant, who he/she is talking to. It's also handy when there are a lot of characters having conversations at once to put in every 2nd or 3rd reply the name of the person your character is talking to - it helps avoid confusion.
viii) The time in this roleplay is no longer set in present time. In the forum on FF.net, we went by a day-to-day basis to make sure everyone stayed on the same time and there was less confusion, but in this forum, we no longer have to do that. We're not all roleplaying on the same thread anymore, so we can be more lenient and give people the freedom to time-skip or stay as long as they'd like at a particular time.
a) The exception to this tip is when a specific time is set at the beginning - or title - of a thread.
ix) Please try any write at least three full sentences per reply. More is preferable. It helps to keep the roleplay flowing if you write more, and gives the other roleplayers something to work with. Personally, if I'm ever stuck for what to write, I pick two or more of 4 things: an action, dialogue, emotion and thoughts - and that gives me a decent-length reply.
x) Please don't write too many lone bracket notes (meaning you aren't RPing at the same time). We don't like to see a bunch of bracket notes in a row with no roleplay occurring.
xi) When we say 'be creative' with your character introductions into the roleplay, we do not mean it in a destructive way. We've noticed that it has become the universal term for ruining the house/castle and we have had more than enough broken windows and replaced walls for our liking.
