Overnight, the castle had been transformed. Not any one section of the castle, but every public part of it. Banners, scarves, crepe paper, socks, shirts, and whatever other items were handy had been taped, nailed, and glued to the walls. The decorations were all these four sets of colors: red and gold, silver and green, black and yellow, and blue and bronze. Stuffed lions, eagles, badgers and rubber snakes also occupied the corridors, family room, library, kitchen, and crafts room. The only places that had been left untouched were the bedrooms. In the kitchen, the table had been cleared of its usual items and instead an ugly hat had taken its place. Hidden inside the hat was Sid’s cell phone, which was playing one of the songs the Sorting Hat had sung in the books, the very first one:
“Oh you may not think I’m pretty
But don’t judge on what you see
I’ll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me
You can keep your bowlers black
Your top hats sleek and tall
For I’m the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all!...”
It had all of the songs recorded, but it needed a button push to change songs, so this one was on a loop until Sid bothered to change or stop it.
Unfortunately, there were no house-elves to be found, so people would still have to make their own breakfasts or badger someone else to cook for them.
In the family room, every copy of the Harry Potter movies that could be found had been stacked neatly on the coffee table.
The same thing had had happened in the library, but with the books. Every Harry Potter book, including the school books, had been found and placed on a table in the area by the computers.
But the most drastic, and possibly frightening, thing was to be found outside, stretched out in front of the castle, its nose nearly touching one of the cars in the lot. It was a dragon, easily as long as the stone structure behind it. Its wings were folded snugly on its back to avoid accidents, but its shape was still obviously that of a dragon, or of a very large lizard. Its scales were pale gray, light blue, and some were white. It had long, vicious-looking silver spikes on its head and tail, but on its back they were much smaller in size and spaced further apart. It appeared to be sleeping.
Then one of Eowyn’s eyes, now pink in color, opened. She glanced around without lifting her head. Seeing no one nearby, she closed it and drifted back into a light doze.
(Anyone can say their characters were part of the decorating committee. Ya’ll can also add to the decorations – I ran out of ideas pretty quickly XD Let the Harry Potter celebrating begin!)
