“Are you sure you don’t want me to come back in a few minutes?” their teleporter inquired. She had teleported Angel and Remiel to a deserted beach in Florida. The teleporter was still fairly new to the base, so it had been an easy enough matter for Angel to convince her that they wouldn’t get in any trouble if they had a little fun after hunting. Both half-vampires had already filled their quota of blood, which was now tucked into the teleporter’s refrigerated bag.
“Positive,” Angel replied, already divesting herself of her bloody hunting clothes. Underneath them she wore a conservative one-piece suit. She folded the clothes up and passed them to the girl. “Thanks for not telling anyone,” she said as she pulled her boots off too.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” their teleporter smirked playfully. “Have fun!” She accepted Remiel’s things as well, then disappeared in a cloud of thick white smoke.
Using the smoke to her advantage, Angel jumped through it to tackle Remiel.

While Angel and the teleporter spoke Remiel grabbed the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up over his head, handing it to the girl before taking off his shoes and then his somewhat ripped jeans, which were the ones he always wore when he went hunting, revealing a pair of swim trunks underneath. He handed the rest of his clothing to the teleporter, and waved to her when she said bye and watched as she teleported away.
He shook his head to somewhat mess up his hair the way he liked it and was about to walk forward through the smoke to find Angel when he was suddenly tackled and knocked to the ground. He laughed slightly, enjoying their time away from the base, and looked to where Angel was. "Well aren't you a little ninja," he said with a chuckle. but he didn't move to get up. He just laid there on his back in the sand, soaking up the warmth of the sun. "Now this is some nice weather," he commented, remembering how much he remembered Angel saying that she had missed the sun.

Angel giggled and nodded, her hair falling over her shoulder to tickle his face. In one smooth motion, she jumped to her feet, landing squarely on his stomach. “I would say race you, but I’ll beat you anyways, so it’s not really a race,” she smirked down at him. She leapt as high as she could and came down running for the water. She was soon waist-deep. When she got to chin depth, she took a deep gulp of air, then dove under, swimming as far as she possibly could before she had to come up for air again.

Remiel scrunched his his nose a bit when Angel's hair tickled it and 'oofed' when she landed on his stomach after jumping up. He closed his eyes at the impact and when he opened them he could see Angel smirking down at him. He listened to what he said and chuckled as he watched her run for the water. "Oh dun worry...I'll get you back," he muttered quietly to himself with a smirk before getting up.
He ran for the water, took a deep breath, and dived under, after Angel had already gone down under once he was deep enough. He swam down pretty far and followed her, hiding so Angel wouldn't see him once she stopped swimming away from the shore. He waited until she went to go up for air before quickly swimming up under her, grabbing her feet with his hands and yanking her down sneakily before going up for air himself, breathing deeply once he had surfaced since he had been under water for longer than he had originally planned, but he was smirking as he did so, waiting for Angel to resurface again.

Angel felt a sharp tug and kicked out wildly, pretty sure that Remiel was the one who had done it. She made no contact with him, because he had swum away just as quickly as he had come. She stroked her way to the surface, grateful to her vampire parentage, because a human probably wouldn’t have survived so long down there. Treading water and gulping down air, she looked around until she spotted her oh so wonderful best friend. “You’re such an ass,” she told him mildly. She relaxed onto her back and kicked water at him as she swam further out. Her eyes were half-lidded to protect them from the sun. Even half-vampires could go sun-blind.
She knew coming out to the beach was risky, but honestly, she was so sick of being underground that she didn’t care for the moment. Or at least, she was trying not to care. Part of her was still on high alert, listening as carefully as possible for anything that sounded out of the ordinary.

"I know," Remiel said with a smug smirk, laughing slightly. "But what fun would I be if I weren't?" He closed his eyes when she splashed water at him. He followed her lead and swam after her, not exactly wanting to float on his back, but he went slow enough to where he kept pace with her and didn't get to far ahead. After a bit though he decided that relaxing did seem pretty nice right about now and there didn't seem to be any trouble or danger lurking about, so he turned onto his back and floated along with her, his eyes closed as well. "Wow, haven't exactly been this relaxed for a while," he said with a smile, enjoying the feel of the water all around him.
He too was doing the same as Angel and being on the lookout, since he understood from their last mission all too well that things can sneak up on you in the blink of an eye, but he didn't like seeing Angel so gloomy and such, so he decided as long as they didn't stay for too long, that it would be alright.

Angel couldn’t hear Remiel when he spoke, because her ears were underwater at the moment. She did see him out of the corner of her eye, so she knew he was still with her. After a few minutes longer of floating, her brain started to catch up with her. It was not comfortable at all with them being so far from land. So she sent a splash at Remiel with her hand, then did an underwater backflip so that she was facing towards the beach as she swam back. At least on land, they had a reasonable chance of kicking ass if superhumans were to turn up. When she reached the beach, she crawled out of the water and lay there on her back, for all appearances still in relaxation mode.

Remiel felt Angel splash him and he turned his attention towards her, watching for a moment as she turned around and swam for sure before following quickly after her. He was only a little ways away from where Angel was. He watched as she laid on her back and chuckled slightly. He soon enough made it to shore and made a move to walk towards her, but ended up tripping on a hidden rock in the sand and fell forwards instead, his eyes wide in surprise. He landed on top of her with his hands on the ground on both sides of Angel's head and his face fell forwards towards Angel's enough that his lips ended up landing on hers, accidentally kissing her.

Angel’s eyes, which had been half-lidded again, flew as wide as pancakes when she felt something wet connect with her mouth. It took her a moment to figure out that the green things above her were Remiel’s eyes, and that the pointy thing prodding her cheek was his nose. But what was the stuff on her mouth? It hit her then like a ton of bricks. His mouth?! He was kissing her?! Without thinking, her hands flew to his chest and she shoved him back with all her might. She zoomed to her feet and stared down at him, for the moment completely devoid of snappy comebacks. At last she sputtered: “What – the – hell?”

As soon as Remiel realized what was going on her bolted up from his position, with much help from Angel with her shoving his chest to get him away from her. Although once he was up in his haste to get up he became unbalanced and ended up tripping backwards over that same rock and landed back on the ground, landing on the ground with his elbows smacking the ground, rather hard. He'd probably have a bruise there later. He cowered back away from Angel, afraid of what wrath of her he was going to receive. He hadn't even meant to do it, it had been an accident. "I-I didn't mean to! I tripped-there was a rock-I didn't see it. Then the falling and then well...that. I'm sorry!" he attempted to explain, closing his eyes as he nervously waited for her response, wondering what she would do about what had just happened.

“Oh, well, if it was the rock’s fault, then it’s all good, isn’t it?” Angel said very sarcastically. She couldn’t believe something like that could be an accident. She refused to think about how good the kiss had felt, or what that meant for them. Thinking that last thing, she suddenly realized she was blushing fiercely. She whirled away from him and stalked further up the beach. Why the hell did she keep acting like this? She couldn’t like-like him, that was impossible. They were best friends, nothing more than that. She crossed her arms over her chest and kicked at the sand. Best friends didn’t kiss each other.

"No, I didn't meant it like that, I was just saying I didn't purposely do that and-Angel, wait!" he called after her, but when she didn't he just sighed in frustration and stood up. He was feeling mad at himself again and cursed under his breath, "Dammit!" he muttered to himself as he kicked the stupid rock that had made him do that, which ended up in him hurting his toes, but he could care less about that now. He figured Angel wouldn't want to spend anymore time with him so he decided it was time to go back. He was starting to feel nervous about having been up there for as long as they had. He sighed and went to grab the walkie talkie that he had left on the beach before and called the teleporter to come back for them before running in the direction Angel had stalked off.
The teleporter soon appeared and walked over to them. She took one hand from each of them and then in an instant they were both gone from the beach, having been teleported back to the base.

That night, the news for Florida had a headline that caused many politicians to run for cover. It read something like this: Are the Anti-Vampire Satellites Getting Glitchy? The story went on to say that early that morning, three blips had been noted on a beach. When authorities arrived, however, they could find no vampires anywhere. The balding man being interviewed by the reporter flushed when asked if 'the satellites were starting to cry wolf'. "No, there were absolutely vampires there," his soundbite said. "There will absolutely be an investigation into whether our people took too long to respond. I will call for a commission myself." The pretty blonde reporter allowed herself a broad smirk after the video of the politician had aired. "To make a long story short, vampires apparently can magically disappear at will," she teased, clearly disbelieving of such a feat. "Back to you, Jake."
