Bobbing and weaving, Eowyn flew through the laboratory, being careful not to stay in one place too long or she might be spotted. She wore a disguise of her own idea - a black many-legged costume that encased her entire body inside a shell, including her head. If anyone were to look too closely, hopefully they would think she was just an insect and only worth a half-hearted swat. All the same, she tried to stay as unnoticeable as possible. She didn't want to find out the hard way that humans could squish a vampire that was only a few inches tall.
Pausing for a moment on the underside of a table, she inhaled deeply, taking in as many scents as her tiny lungs would allow. There was one in particular that she'd been sent to find. Everything had a scent to a vampire, even if it was designed to be scentless. Scentless humans still smelled of shampoo and body oils and whatever they had eaten for breakfast that morning.
There! The faintest trace tickled the back of her nose. She breathed again, trying to pinpoint it. But it was either too far away or not enough of it was in this room to bother about. She zoomed up to the ceiling, trying to locate the scent. Then she noticed several scientists crowded around the corner of a counter, obscuring it from view. She flew lower, just barely above their heads, and looked down. Apparently one of the scientists had gotten something on their arm, and now it was greenish and swollen. The whitecoat in question clutched his arm in agony and groaned as his various colleagues tried to help him. The antidote was evidently not close at hand.
And then she smelled the scent again, and this time it was much stronger. She blinked, her eyes watering. She was hovering right next to the pot where the concoction that had burned the scientist was bubbling.
Oh.
She resisted the urge to facepalm for not having noticed it right away. Reaching behind herself, she pulled a slim clear cylinder from between her wings and unstoppered it. She waited with bated breath behind one woman's ear. If they would just look away from the poison for just a few seconds...
Soon enough, they did. She zoomed forward and lowered the vial into the bubbling liquid with a string attached to it. Once it was full, she quickly reeled it in and dropped out of sight beside the cauldron. She cut the string off, stoppered the cylinder, and oh so carefully slipped it into the black pack stationed between her shoulder blades. She knew the real danger was in it getting into her blood stream, but she still would rather not swell up like that man's wrist had. It would make for difficult flying.
And now for the fun part - leaving. She shot up to the relative safety of the flourescent lights and flew from the room, a mental map in her head. Two rights, a left, and a near-collision with a spider later, she zoomed out the exit and looked for her teammates. They were across the street, pretending to be a happy couple on a stroll, hand-holding and all. Angel was even giggling a little, despite the gravity of the situation.
Eowyn dropped onto Angel's shoulder and ducked inside her hat. Angel didn't even jump - Eowyn had done this often enough in the past. "I got the last of them," Eowyn murmured into her ear. "Head back to the rendezvous point." Angel exerted a slight pressure on Remiel's hand and together they turned towards the downtown. While they walked, Eowyn unzipped the small backpack Angel wore and stuck the last of the six vials into its holder. She also shucked her costume, needing all the freedom of movement she could get. Not to say she was naked. She wore a loose shirt and pants, and around her waist was a belt from which hung an assorted number of tiny knives. She closed the bag back up and took position just behind Angel's collar, guarding their flank.
And then she saw five superhumans emerge from a store they had just passed. There was no way that was a coincidence, especially not as they were all looking directly at Remiel and Angel. For though they were doing their best to continue acting casual, the half-vampires weren't walking as slowly as a couple who was really on a stroll would.
"Behind you!" Eowyn shrieked, already leaping off of Angel's back, two knives in her fists.
Angel reacted instinctively, pulling a gun from the small of her back and whirling around. However, she had to immediately duck behind a car to avoid the first barrage of shots.

Remiel was doing his best to act like him and Angel were a couple, hence the handholdig, and cupped his hand around the side of his mouth as he whispered something to her, which ended up making Angel laugh. He smiled at the sound of her laughter, having always loved to be the cause of it when she laughed around him. He had forgotten how much he had missed hanging out with her over the past seven years but now over the past few weeks since he had found the underground hideout, he remembered clearly how much he liked just having fun and hanging out with Angel. It was one of things he truly enjoyed doing.
He had felt Angel lightly squeeze his hand and took that as a sign that it was time to go. He lightly squeezed her hand back before walking along with her, keeping up the light conversation, but queitly enough where he could still hear things around him and keep a lookout. As soon as he heard Eowyn call out that there were superhumans he instantly let go of Angel's hand and pulled out a gun from where he'd been concealing it.
He had time to shoot one superhuman, cheering a victorious yes! in his head, before narowly missing being shot himself. Cussing under his breath he dodged behind the car Angel was behind as well.. He was sure whether he had killed or injures the superhuman, but he was glad to have at least harmed one.
He was breathing rather heavily as he tried to calm the adrenaline running through his veins for a moment so he could come up with a plan. He glanced to the side at Angel and immediately began worrying, being as protective over her as he was. "Stay close to me okay? I don't want us to get separated, alright?" He pleaded with her, not wanting anyhing to happen to her and it was easier to keep an eye on her when she was with him, which also helped because he could be more focused on the battle in front of him than of worrying where Angel was.

Angel nodded one sharp nod to Remiel, before going back to peering around the side of the car. Three superhumans were still running towards them and shooting, but the other two were rather occupied at the moment. Using her knives, Eowyn had gouged out her targets’ eyes. Blood streamed down their faces as they blindly shot into the air, trying to hit whatever was attacking them. Eowyn zoomed from side to side, avoiding the bullets with ease. She headed for another superhuman and aimed at his eye, but he turned his gun on his own face and fired. She dodged out of the way just in time, leaving the poor suicidal superhuman to collapse to the ground, dead.
A bullet nearly hit Angel’s own eye, causing her to duck back behind the car. She had been doing her best to shoot her enemies, but her aim wasn’t very good yet and most of her bullets went wide, hitting windows, cars, and even a streetlamp. Suddenly sirens began blaring around them and she clapped her hands over her ears, shrieking. All she could think about was the noise. It wouldn’t stop!
“RUN!” Eowyn shouted over the blaring. Yes, it was good to kill superhumans, but it was also good to stay alive. She dove at the next superhuman, planning to take out at least one more before following after her team. However, this one had learned from his comrades’ mistakes. He had pulled his sunglasses over his eyes, blocking her access. With a cry of frustration over her inability to do anything else in her small form, she turned and zoomed behind the car. “ARE YOU DEAF, I SAID RUN!” she shrieked at Angel, who was still clutching her head and seemed unable to move.

Remiel continued to fire at them, not being able to get a good shot in he position he was in behind the car. He cursed his luck and was about to try again when he herd Eowyn telling them to run. He was about to do just that when he noticed Angel hadn't seemed to hear her because her hands over her ears from the sirens. He hadn't covered his ears because he'd heard the sirens one too many times before and had caused them a number of times too when he'd been up here on his own.
He gently, but firmly, shook her shoulders to try and get her attention. "Angel! Snap outta it, we need to run!" He then grabbed one of her hands and pulled her quickly up before dragging her into run with him, trying to make it safely back to where Bob was waiting to teleport them back.
As soon as Angel had started to run on her own he let go of her hand only so he'd have an easy time shooting at the superhumans, mostly missig though since they were over the shoulder shots, not having time to turn around and aim before shooting. Soon enough he had run out of bullets and he cursed before putting the gun away and focused on running, dodging bullets and keeping an eye on Angel to make sure she was still with him as he did so.

Angel was not listening to Eowyn – her eyes were closed and she was rocking back and forth. But when Remiel shook her, they snapped open again. They were wide and frightened, and she looked much younger than she was. When he took one of her hands away from her ear, she moaned but made no resistance. She followed along obediently, unable to think of anything but the noise.
And then it lessened, ever so slightly. But it was enough. She was able to think through the pain, able to realize that the blaring had not caused her to go deaf, that she needed to focus. She released Remiel’s hand and ran pell mell beside him, afraid that the next bullet would hit her. She didn’t even bother trying to shoot the superhumans, but it didn’t matter anyways, because she’d dropped her gun back by the car.
Eowyn flew along slightly ahead of them, gnashing her teeth because her fairy form was now working against her. Sure, it was great for the infiltration part of things and also for gouging eyes out, but not so good for any other kind of fighting. She couldn’t kick anyone in the groin when she was this small. But on the other hand, she so did not want to go running around buck naked. She didn’t exactly have an ability to make her clothes grow with her.
Damn fairies for being so tiny.

Remiel continued running as fast as he possibly could. He was looking in so many directions and dodging so many bullets and his mind was on so many things. Keep both himself and Angel safe, dodge bullets, and keep an eye out for the superhumans. With all going on around him it was no wonder that he missed somehing that he should have easily been able to see.
He noticed to late that behind the car they were running towards, there was a superhuman about one or two feet in front of them and at the speed they were running at there was no way to stop or to warn Angel, since it seemed she hadn't seen the superhuman, without the superhuman doing something to either of them first. In his mind, time seemed to slow down, even though it didn't really. He saw the superhuman lookig at Angel with an evil smirk and raising his fist, getting ready to take a swing at her.
He didn't even think about doing what he did next, he just did it out of instinct. He grabbed Angel's arm and shoved her sideways, away from he car, so she was knocked ot of the way and safe from that superhuman at least. In that one brief moment, he was relieved. The same couldn't be said for him though. Since he has protected Angel he was forced to take the blow, not having had time to shove Angel out of he way and move himself out of the way. Time was still going slow in his mind, although it didn't seem like it was slow enough to him.
The force of the blow, and the pain, made him lose his balance and he fell to the ground, smacking the back of his head against the road as well when he fell. He had closed his eyes from the pain, feeling a little dazed, and there also was a ringing in his ears that seemed to block out eveything else, all the noise going on around them. His mind briefly went to Angel and he tried to get up, dispite the fact that his head felt like it had gotten hit by a train.
The second he tried to even sit up here was a loud crack as the superhuman had stepped on Remiel's legs. He cried out in pain, not having been expecting that since his eyes had been closed, and bit down hard on his bottom lip to keep from screaming out anymore at the pain. The superhuman laughed and placed one of his large boots over his stomach, presing down on it, looking as if he was about to squish an ant, also bruising his stomach alog with all that.
"Did you really think you could win?" The superhuman asked with an evil and yet satisfied smirk as he looked down at Remiel, who was in fact in too much pain to answer, and was also gasping slightly as he breathed because of how much pain he was in. In his mind was only one thought and that was that he hoped Angel had kept running and that she was safe from all this, but he couldn't tell, since he refused to open his eyes and look at the superhuman that was standing over him.

Like Remiel, Angel had not noticed the newest superhuman until it was too late. She was in front of him for just a few milliseconds, but in that time she knew she would not make it past him. Then she was falling sideways and her head smacked into the pavement. The last thing she saw was the dreary grey sidewalk.
Eowyn saw all of this too late, and at that moment she chose to abandon her scruples. Rather than immediately diving at the monster that had just hurt one of her teammates and was now advancing towards the unconscious Angel, she sank to the roof of the car and took several deep calming breaths, closing her eyes to help her focus. To transform, she needed to be still both mentally and physically. She needed to be able to envision herself as whatever it was she wanted to be. Otherwise, she might find herself with random body parts and no idea where her face was.
The big man stopped with his foot in the air above Angel, his mouth gaping comically. For sitting on the roof of his fancy new ride was a dream come true. Sure, she was a little young, but hey, how often did a guy get a pretty girl sitting on his car? His hormone-driven brain did not go any further than this. He sashayed over to her and said in what he imagined to be a sexy tone, “Why, hello. Are you my birthday present?”
Her eyes opened and she smiled up at him. “No. Naughty boys don’t get birthday presents.” And then both her feet kicked up into a very tender spot.
With a howl, he clapped his hands over the place in question and dropped like a stone. Eowyn quickly dispatched him with a stomp to his neck. She would’ve liked to give him the same treatment as he had given to Remiel, but she simply had no time. The two shooters were just around the corner, and she had no doubt that other supers lay in wait. So that one stomp would have to do.
She felt very exposed, but there wasn’t time to worry about how many people were getting free entertainment out of her. She briskly and none-too-kindly slapped Angel awake. She didn’t blame her for anything, but she didn’t have time to be gentle. They needed to move, move, move. Then she turned to Remiel. The most she could do for him was make sure nothing was fatal. Fortunately, broken bones, while painful, were not deadly if treated soon.
Angel was groaning and sitting up now, a hand to her forehead. She looked around and blinked several times when she saw Eowyn. Without asking for an explanation, she removed her long jacket and tossed it to her, which the other girl gratefully caught and zipped on. Then Angel took Remiel up by the armpits, Eowyn got his legs, and they hurriedly left the scene. Just as they rounded the corner, more sirens started up.

Remiel felt the superhuman step on his stomach slightly harder for a moment before he noticed the weight of the boot disappear. He still couldn't really hear anything around him, but the ringing had started to die down a bit at least.
He laid there for a while, not knowing for how long, and he found he still felt a bit dazed and his mind didn't seem right. He couldn't think about anything withot his head pounding. Suddenly he felt arms grab him and lift him up, not being able to hold back the hiss of pain that escaped his lips when he felt more pain in his legs, and he stiffened, not having a clue who had him now since he was afraid to open his eyes.
He soon decided that he'd seen enough of the darkness around him and his eyes fluttered open, flinching at the brightness of the sun. His vision was a little blurry at first, but he blinked to clear it up. His head was tilted back as he was being carried and he was looking up Angel as she carried him, the sunlight behind her making her look like she was shining.
He reached up a hand to her face and gently stroked her cheek with a tired/exhausted smile. Although with the way he was looking at her, you could tell that something seemed to not be right in his head. "My Guarding Angel..." He whispered quietly as he stared up at her. Soon after that he found that the fatigue was getting to him and his hand dropped down from her face as he grew to tired to hold it up any longer. He suddenly felt sleepy and decided that he'd close his eyes again, since things were so much more peaceful then. Since he wasn't right in the head at the moment, it didn't occur to him that he probably shouldn't sleep, since that was always a bad idea with head injuries, so he saw nothing wrong with closing his eyes and giving in to his tiredness.

Angel looked down at Remiel when his hand touched her face and she blinked, confused. What was he talking about? She hadn’t done any guarding. She’d lain around while Eowyn did all the work. But then she noticed that something didn’t seem quite right about his eyes. He must’ve hit his head. She couldn’t do anything about it, though, not when they had no place to stop and rest. His eyelids flutter closed and her heart jumped into her throat - she knew that was a bad sign. “Rem, open your damn eyes! This is no time to be sleeping!” she shrieked at him, struggling to keep her voice down so they wouldn’t be caught.
She didn’t have time to try anything else, though, because just then they emerged from the alley they were hiding in and were confronted with more supers, two of whom she recognized as having been at the first scene – it felt like hours ago now. She and Eowyn immediately lowered Remiel to the ground and attacked.
Eowyn was the better fighter, and soon had three of the monsters down. Angel managed to knock the lights out of another, but then four more came running around the corner, guns out.
And then…
Gunfire burst out from behind them and Angel and Eowyn instinctively ducked and whirled about, expecting to see yet more supers. But it was just Bob, and Angel was sure she had never been so glad to see a gun in her life. He coolly shot at each superhuman, ducking and weaving to avoid return fire. Eowyn and Angel quickly joined in, invigorated by their teleporter’s arrival. At last, their enemies had either been killed or were so badly injured that there was nothing more to be done to them.
Before any more reinforcements could arrive, Bob scooped Remiel up bridal style, with Angel and Eowyn each clutching one of his arms. They turned on the spot and vanished, leaving the cacophony of sirens to echo over the new graveyard.
