“Come on, you’re not even trying!” Eowyn complained.
Sid glared at her. “We’re not all full-vampires,” she retorted.
“That’s just an excuse,” Eowyn said, sticking her tongue out. “You could catch me if you really worked at it.”
“What do you think I’m doing right now?” Sid demanded.
Eowyn looked down at her from a long way off. “Well,” she said, as though seriously thinking about it. “At the moment, you appear as though you’re trying to jump over two hundred feet into the air.”
Sid scowled up at her, crouched in the training yard after yet another leap. Eowyn soared several hundred feet above her on a ten-foot wingspan, completely at her ease. “What does this even have to do with fighting?” she inquired. “Superhumans can’t fly.”
“Yet,” Eowyn said ominously.
Sid scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Please, with muscles as huge as theirs? It’ll be another century before they figure out how to achieve liftoff that way! It’s not like they’ve got magic on their side.”
“Yet,” Eowyn said again.
Sid stared up at her. “And how, pray tell, are they going to get magic on their side? No vampire would ally with people who would love to kill them. No werewolves would do that, either. And anyways, werewolves don’t exactly have the unlimited abilities we do.”
Eowyn lifted her hands up as though holding the world above her. “They managed to figure out how to poison us and to kill us. It’s only a matter of time.”
“If you say so.” And suddenly Sid threw something through the air. Eowyn only just barely dodged whatever it was – she felt it graze past her ear. “I may not be able to jump,” said Sid with a smirk. “But I sure can distract you!” The rock she’d thrown fell back to the earth.

Angel moving out of his apartment had taken it's toll on Remiel at first. For the first few days he had just kinda laid around, being lazy, trying to think up something fun for him to do. Eventually on the third day he got off his lazy butt and went to look for someone to hang out with. At first he'd tried hanging out with Addison, or even just having a conversation or two with her, but she was always extremely busy with healing things, so that didn't work out. Next he'd gone to Jim, not having seen or spoken to him in a while, and chatted with him, asking about what he'd been up to lately, how Cassie was doing, etc. Eventually he'd been able to rope Jim into playing some board games and video games with him, both of them wanting to have a bit of fun. Right now they were sitting in the family room, playing a game of Go Fish. Sure it had seemed a bit childish at first, but then they decided not to care. (XD)
"Got any threes?" Jim asked, looking closely at his cards. Remiel stayed silent, acting as if he were pondering over the answer, shifting his eyes, before finally saying,"...no. Go fish." He smiled innocently and watched as Jim grumbled as he picked up another card. Jim just couldn't seem to guess any of the right pairs. Well either that...or Rem was cheating by saying he didn't have them when he actually did. He decided to patiently wait and see what would happen next.
"Hmm...got any eights?" Remiel asked after a moment of pondering over what number to ask. Jim's response was to grumble some more, muttering a 'yes' as he handed the card over. Remiel placed his two eights down and flipped them over before asking again, "Ya got any fives, Jimbo?" he asked with a teasing smirk, knowing how much that nickname still bothered him. Jim's reaction was to shout in frustration and throw his hands up in the air in exasperation. "How on earth do you keep guessing right?! You've guessed right every single time and I haven't guessed right once. Not once! It's almost as if you have the magical mind reading powers instead of me, which I would never use anyways in a game, cuz that's cheating."
Remiel simply shrugged and held out his hand. "I dunno...but can I have your five please?" he asked, an innocent smile on his face. Jim narrowed his eyes at Rem, but reluctantly handed the five over to him. "You're hiding something..." Jim said, but Remiel ignored this and continued on with the game. "Got any twos?" he asked after flipping his fives over, and Jim grumbled and just glared at him, clearly telling Remiel that he'd guessed correctly once again. He's hiding something...and I'm gonna find out what...

"Hey guys, do you know where I might find Rem?"
Sid turned, expecting to see Angel. Instead, she found herself looking at one Stacey Moriarty. The girl seemed nervous - she was twisting her shirt's hem. "You could try his apartment," Sid offered. "Or if he's not there, he might be at his mom's. If he's not there either, you'll have to sniff for him cause I've no idea where else he might be."
"Thanks. Um, where are they at specifically?"
Sid gave directions, then waved bye. She was about to turn around when she felt two feet smack into her back. She stumbled and whirled around, only to see Eowyn take off again. With a hiss, Sid launched herself at the 'angel'. Their semi-playful shouts and growls followed Stacey until she'd gone several blocks.
When she reached Remiel's apartment building, she stopped to examine her reflection in an adjoining apartment's window. She tucked a strand of her red hair behind her ear, straightened her shirt, and checked to make sure her braid was still tied. Steeling herself, she took a shaky breath, walked up to Rem's apartment door, and knocked.

Remiel whooped from inside the apartment as he just got three pairs in a row and was about to ask for another card when he heard a knock on the door. He paused for a moment before going to stand up off of the floor. "I'll be right back Jimbo. Someone's at the door." He took a step of of the room before adding, "Oh, and don't you dare cheat while I'm gone!" He laughed a bit when he heard Jim's 'I haven't even done anything to suggest I would cheat!' from the other room and continued on to the door, not bothering to shout anything back. He ran a hand through his hair to fix it up a bit before opening the door.
When he opened the door he'd been half expecting to be Angel, so he was completely surprised to find it wasn't who he'd be expecting. Despite being a bit disappointed he put on a friendly smile. "Oh, hey Stacey. Long time no see." He hadn't really seen her around lately, since he'd usually be hanging around Angel most of the time.

Stacey heard shouting but ignored it, her nerves keeping her from curiosity. When Remiel opened the door, her throat caught as she looked up at him. He was so damn handsome! And single, according to the rumors she'd heard. Being just eight years old, Stacey was not aware that believing rumors without getting confirmation from the parties involved in the rumors was not exactly a good idea. She swallowed and said nothing, though her heart melted at his friendly smile. "You...too," she finally managed to choke out. Then, before she could run away terrified, she hurriedly asked, "Would you l-l-like to ha-have l-lunch with - me?" She squeaked on the last word and blushed crimson. Oh, God, now he wasn't going to want to!

Remiel had no idea why on earth Stacey seemed so nervous about talking to him, but all questions about that stopped when he heard her question. He didn't see anything wrong with going out to lunch with a friend, seeing as Angel did that sort of thing all the time. "Uh, sure. I don't see why not. But uh, Jim and I were in the middle of a game. Mind if we finish before we go?" he asked, opening the door and stepping aside, inviting her to come inside if she wanted to.

Stacey's whole world lit up, quite literally. Hearing him say yes sent her emotions on a roller coaster ride and she lost control of her ability. Her skin glowed brightly all over, as though she were a living lamp. "Okay!" She exclaimed, her voice squeaking worse than ever, but she didn't seem to notice. She was smiling in relief. "I'll, uh, save a table while you finish...See you in a few!" And turning, she walked briskly towards the command center, glowing even brighter still if that was possible.

"Alright then, sounds like a plan," Remiel said with a smile. He was a bit confused at what he'd done to make her glow like that, because why on earth would she be so excited to have lunch with him, but he shrugged it off. He went back inside and continued on with playing Go Fish. After about ten minutes or so Remiel became the ultimate champion, Jim complaining still that he had heated somehow, but Remiel simply shrugged, not helping Jim to figure out if he was right or wrong. Jim left shortly after that, and Remiel left his apartment shortly after, walking in the direction of the main building. Once he got there he walked inside and headed for where the lunch room was.
It only took a moment to spot what table Stacey had saved for them and he went over and sat down across from her. "Sorry it took so long, by Jim was being a sore loser," he said with a slight laugh at Jim's expense. He always had fun messing with his "Uncle" Jim's head. Jim wasn't actually his uncle, but after growing up with so many people from the Night Coven he came to see everyone as family, therefore they became his aunts and uncles. He briefly wondered what had brought on this invitation to lunch, since she'd never invited him out to lunch before, but he was grateful for the company, so he didn't question it.

Stacey had been nervously fiddling with her braid, wondering what was taking Rem so long. She had gotten her ability somewhat under control, but her hands kept flickering with bright lights. When he sat down across from her, her entire body once more flared up and she smiled shyly at him. “I-it’s all right,” she said, making a concerted effort to speak clearly. She blushed again. It was remarkable just how different she was acting to her usual self. Stacey was a tough girl, but really that was just a shell. A very thin one, it seemed. “So, uh, want to get lunch?” she asked, half-rising from her seat. Her jacket was draped over the back of her chair as a table-saving tactic.

Remiel was once again feeling confused as to why Stacey had seemed to be so shy around him. When she was sitting at the table with a group of people she had seemed fine, so it seemed strange to him. At Stacey's question he remembered how hungry he was, his stomach growling a bit loudly as if to remind him of this as well. He chuckled a bit embarrassedly before nodding. "Sounds good to me," he said, getting up from the table after she had.

Stacey ignored the sound of his stomach growling and led the way to the counter where food was placed once it was ready. She took a while trying to decide exactly what she wanted, looking for food that wouldn’t get caught in her teeth or make her breath smell bad. Plus, she felt almost too nervous to eat, but didn’t want to seem like one of those people who ate hardly anything to keep their weight down. Not that she needed to do that of course, being half-meypire, but still, first impressions mattered. She paced up and down the counter and finally settled on a plain hot dog and a bottle of water. She carried her meal back to their table – a grin flickering across her features as she thought the word ‘their’. When she sat down, she did not immediately start eating but instead twisted her shirt’s hem again.

Remiel on the other hand piled his plate with nachos, meat, and cheese. He didn't know why, but that's really what he was hungry for and what he was in the mood to eat. He then grabbed a water bottle after Stacey had and waited for he to get her food. Once she had he walked ab ck with her to the table and sat down across from her, setting his food and water down. Remiel then sat down and noticed that Stacey wasn't eating. He had to admit, he himself was feeling a little awkward, never having gone out to eat a meal with only just Stacey before, but he was sure he could manage to come up with some conversation. "Sooo...how have things been going for you?" That was a rather awkward question to ask, but he couldn't really think of anything else to ask so he had stuck with that. While he waited for her to answer Remiel took a bit of his food, feeling pleased to finally eat something today. He hadn't been all that hungry at breakfast to be honest anymore. He didn't know what it was that had changed, but he just never wanted to eat anything until later on in the day, so once it came to lunch time, he was actually rather ravenous.

Stacey jumped at hearing Remiel’s voice again. She had been staring at the table, but now she looked up at him quickly. “Oh, fine!” she said in a higher voice than normal, and tried to smile, her mouth trembling.
From the far end of the cafeteria, a woman with wet hair plastered to her skull emerged from the shower room. She was dressed simply in a loose black T-shirt and a pair of jeans. She headed to the line for the food, grabbed a cheeseburger and nachos, and looked around the room. Her eyes alighted upon Remiel and Stacey and she frowned a little. Remiel never sat with Stacey Moriarty. Maybe they were waiting for someone? She walked over to them and smiled questioningly. “Can I join you?” Angel asked, setting down her tray without waiting for an answer. She looked around for a spare chair, and not seeing one, poked Remiel. “Budge up there, Rem.”
Stacey stared at her uncomprehendingly. Hadn’t Angel and Remiel broken up? That was what she had heard. Maybe it was an amiable breakup?

Remiel noticed that Stacey was being rather jumpy and he wondered why, but he didn't question and just went on with eating his nachos. When she answered his question he smiled and nodded in response," Well that's good. I mean, who would want to have a life that wasn't fine and dandy and...stuff," he had trailed off, not really knowing what else to say. He could talk to Stacey when it was her and other friends that he had, but when it was just them sitting together at a table it was rather awkward.
He was gladly surprised to find that Angel wanted to sit with him and Stacey at lunch. This surely would make it less awkward, and he was just plain happy to see Angel as well. He'd hardly seen her lately, keeping up with his part of this and giving Angel some space to have time with her other friends. Even if this meant hours upon hours of kicking Jim's butt at games and bugging Addie to hang out with him in his free time, or just going to hang around his mum and dad for a while, he was happy to do so if it would make Angel happy. "Sure, Ang," he said in response to her question and scooted over on the chair he was sitting on, making room for Angel to sit next him.
