Da-dum... da-dum... da-dum... da-dum... da-dum
What was that noise? It was maddening in the way that a ticking clock might drive someone insane. The slow, steady pace made him jittery. Why wouldn't it stop?
A groan escaped his dry, pallid lips and a few fingers on his right hand twitched as he came around to consciousness. He didn't open his eyes, though. The pounding in his head was almost deafening, and the thought of possibly seeing the brightness on the other side of his eyelids was something he wanted to put off for as long as he could.
Instead, he took in a deep breath, testing out his lungs and tasting the air, trying to seek out his surroundings with his other senses. It smelt... clean. That was new, but it also frightened him. So much so, that his eyes shot open in alarm and he swung his legs off of the hospital bed he found himself on. The movement made his head ache, but he knew that he couldn't allow himself to fall into another false sense of security.
,They've caught me!' he thought, his eyes shooting down at his chest to the wires he found attached to him and he made quick work of pulling them off. This action sent alarms on the medical supplies sounding, and he gasped at the pain it gave him. Touching his forehead, he froze at feeling the wrappings around it. It was also at that moment that he noticed the smell of blood, and again, panic shot through him.
He had to get out of there.

Omari stood looking over the supplies for the medical area, he jotted down quick numbers of the supplies as he went through them, checking the expiration dates as well as the amounts. Looking up from his clipboard, he cocked his head to the side as he heard the rustle of bed sheets. There were only 3 people being kept on the beds, and they were supposed to have been unconcious, well at least they were when he entered an hour ago.
Walking over to the doorway that led into the supply room, he peeked his head out, and found a male patient sitting and looking around the room. He watched as the man began pulling off the leads for the heart monitor, and shook his head. "Medic?" he called, wanting someone who dealt with people who panicked when waking up in foreign places. Keeping his eye on the man, he waited, hoping he wouldn't do anything rash and need to be restrained.

Addison had been sitting at her desk inside of the infirmary, drinking from a warm mug of much needed blood, when there was a sudden disturbance in th infirmary as the alarms sounded and she was being called for. Her head snapped up from what she had been reading and without a moment to spare she set her mug down on her desk and quickly went to go see what had happened.
She hurried into the room and was glad to see the patient awake, but then not so glad that he was trying to leave, when he clearly wasn't ready. She rushed towards him, passing by Omari with not so much as a glance since she was focused on the patient, and talked to him in a soothing voice to try and calm him down while she tried to get him lay back down. "Hey, it's alright. You're safe now, no need to panic. You're not up there anymore, but you are hurt, so I need you to lie back down please, so I can help you. There's nothing to be afraid of." Her voice was very calm and relaxing and she hoped he'd listen to her and do as she asked without fighting it.

Head snapping up towards the sound of a voice, he bared his teeth at the man who spoke, as if daring him to come any closer. He slipped off of the bed, eyes wild and in pure defense-mode as he crouched, arms out to each side as he located each of the exits, quickly trying to think of the best way out of this mess.
When Addison entered the room, he hissed at her, not wanting her to come any closer while being in his state, but her attempts to calm him threw him off. "Who're you?" he demanded, eyes narrowed since he saw her as the most immediate threat, but decided he didn't really care at that moment. "Where am I? What do you mean 'up there'?" he asked instead, trying to circle around her towards the door. Despite the possibility of getting answers, he would really rather get out.
He paused when he smelt more blood, his nose flaring, and he backed away from her again. "You're one of them, aren't you?!" he yelled, assuming the blood on her breath meant that she was in the process of becoming one of the superhumans. "YOU MONSTER! DON'T TOUCH ME!" he hissed. He wasn't going to let them experiment on him; he wasn't going to be one of their lab rats or let them make him responsible for one of their disgusting mutants. He feinted at her, wanting to make her think he was about to attack, then ran for the door.

Omari dropped his clipboard the second the man hissed at Addison. His hands flexed and he crouched, watching the male's movements, he slowly found his way behind Addison, just in case he lunged at her, which looked pretty imminent.
When he lunged towards the doorway, Omari threw himself at the exit also, luckily the vampire was injured, so he had a slight lead on him and blocked the doorway. He didn't not want a crazed and panicked vampire running through the halls, especially if he came into contact with one of the halvies, who weren't as strong and would be caught off guard... like his own son.

Addison flinched slightly when the patient hissed at her and struggled to keep calm, since she was now a bit nervous herself. She often handle patients like this, so she was used to this kinda of behavior. "I-I'm Addison," she answered as she did her best to keep him in front of her and away from the door. "You're in a secret underground vampire hideout that keeps all of us safe." She flinched again when the man shouted at her and shook her head, keeping herself calm though. "No I'm not one of them. I'm a vampire just like you," she explained, holding her arms out in front of her in a surrender-like way. She flinched again when he feinted at her and was glad Omari stopped him from leaving.
She slowly made her way towards where Omari and the man were and stepped behind them so she was partially blocking the man from leaving. "You really have no reason to freak out. I'm a healer and I came here to help you," she explained calmly once again.

Freedom. Sweet freedom was just seconds away when he felt himself being slammed into by something hard and crashed into something much harder. Gasping for breath, he felt his eyes roll backwards for a moment as he blanked out, but his vision returned moments later, though with much disorientation and blurring. He didn't stop struggling, though, no matter how feeble his strength had diminished to. He would much rather die fighting than submit to his captors.
"Ahh," he groaned, trying to make sense of Addison's explanation - except it was hard to comprehend. A secret underground vampire hideout? How ridiculous was she to actually think that he would believe her? Who in their right mind would? His lungs were beginning to pain him, and he lifted his hands in surrender as he decided to test out the validity of their story. "Okay," he breathed, though his chest felt like it was on fire. "Assuming what you're telling me is true," he started, eyeing Omari suspiciously. "Can you let me go and get me something to eat... or drink?" he asked, dubious of them. Both were beneficial to his health and would strengthen him. If they refused either, he would renew his struggles and get out of there, or die trying.

Omari held on to him as best he could, getting a few scrapes and scratches just from trying to hold him. Staying quiet, and letting Addison do the talking. He removed his arms from the man when he stopped struggling, though he kept himself firmly planted on the exit just in case this was a ploy.
"What she's saying is true... can't you tell from my scent?" he asked, but sniffing the air, what registered most was the blood Addison had been drinking.

Addison listened to the man as he spoke, listening intently. She thought over what the man asked for a moment before nodding. "Sure, we can get that stuff for you." She turned to look at Omari. "Could you go and him those things for me please? I'm pretty sure I can handle this," she said before turning to the patient again. "I really am going to need you to lie down, or at least sit back down on the bed please so I can tend to your injuries." She hoped he'd listen to her this time, before he did anything stupid and hurt himself even more.

"What exactly am I supposed to tell by your scent?" he asked, giving him a strange look. "That you're freakishly strong? I can't smell that," he told him, sounding weary rather than challenging, as his words might've implied. It didn't register that in his weakness, Omari's strength was much more defined and that he wasn't technically stronger than he was when in full health. He was glad that he was released, though, and he pushed his mess of hair out of his face.
He shifted slightly when Addison instructed him back onto the bed, not really wanting to move, but made his body do the task. He didn't want to lie down, though, so he settled himself so he was propped up against the pillows. At least they were making sure he was properly comfortable. "What are those machines?" he asked, giving them wary glances. He wanted to know exactly what they were monitoring before he agreed to let them strap him up. "No meat, please!" he called out to Omari. Despite his 'live off of what you got' lifestyle lately, he remained a vegetarian, for whatever it was worth.

Omari rolled his eyes at the man and turned to leave, after he saw him behaving accordingly with Addison. "Pansy..." he muttered under his breath at the "no meat" comment. Omari was a carnivore, as Kailen liked to say it.
He strode to the kitchen and picked up a variety of fruits, nuts, veggies, a bottle of water, a can of soda, and a jug of blood. As he got back up to the infirmary, he deposited the contents of his arms onto a rolling tray, and brought it up to the man's bedside. Dipping his head, he turned back towards the supply room to continue doing inventory so he could compile the list for those going above ground in a few hours. He looked back for a moment before refocusing his attention, he was a man of few words these days.

Addison smiled when the man actually listened to her. Once he was seated on the bed she walked over to him. She explained what the heart monitor was for and the various other things that had been hooked up to him were used for and how they helped keep track of his health and such. Once she had explained them and he was comfortable after knowing what they were she hooked him back up to them. She then began examine the patient and got a closer look at his head wound, before gently placing her hand on it and healing it. She focused on just that injury for now because head injuries were the most serious. "There, that should help," she said as she removed her hand from his head.
She smiled at Omari when he returned with the things the man had asked for and watched as he left. "Thank you!" she called out over her shoulder as he left before focusing back on the patient. "Was there anywhere else that was sore or bruised that I should know about?"

"I beg your pardon?" he asked, glancing towards the exit Omari had left from. He had no clue what a 'pansy' was or whether he should be offended, but didn't really care. He had food on the way and the woman, Addison, was respecting his demands, so he had nothing to complain about, least of all hospitality, since he seemed to be the rude, imposing one.
"You really don't have to worry about healing me. I'll be fi-" his words cut off when he felt a tingly sensation rush over and through his body to be replaced with a refreshing cool that made his skin prickle with cold bumps. "What did you do?" he asked, but it was a moot question, since the pounding and ache in his head disappeared quickly. He reached a hand to his head, removing the bandages to reveal smooth, obviously healed skin. "Wow, thank you," he told her, taking her hand, but was distracted by the smell of blood and food. Seeing that Omari had returned, he sent him a thankful glance and began eating with ravenous frenzy, gulping down whatever his hands touched until he was sated.
While he ate, he again grew doubtful of their claims, wondering whether he should've eaten like he did in case they drugged him, but he didn't worry for much longer as his exhaustion finally settled back in.
"No, I'm fine, thanks," he told Addison, waving off her offers to help him as he finally settled back against the pillows. Barely stiffling a yawn, his head lolled to the side as his eyes closed, and deep, even breathing replaced the pained gasps for air he had been displaying earlier.

Addison was used to people telling her that they didn’t need to be healed, thinking that they’d be fine, but she knew better than to listen to that. She knew, most likely better than they did, when they needed healing or not and a head injury definitely fitted in with her category of healing. She also sent a little extra healing power anywhere that he had looked like he was injured or hurt so it’d help him sleep a little easier.
“I healed the injury on your head,” she explained. She smiled when he took her hand and said thanks and was pleased that he seemed to be fairly calm now. “You’re welcome. Glad I could help,” she said, stifling a tiny laugh that escaped her when he started gulping down the food. She waited there until he was done eating and nodded, deciding for herself that he’d be fine now.
As soon as he was sleeping she walked over to the cart and pushed it out of the room and went to go take care of the things that were in it. Once she had done that she went back over to where her desk was and tiredly sank back into her chair, leaning back against it. She picked up her mug from before and took a long sip from it before setting it back down, waiting for the small feeling of tiredness to leave her.

Kailen made his way into the infirmary, looking around for his father. Not seeing him at the moment, he went over and studied each new patient. As he got to the last bed, with the man who was steadily sleeping, he looked over at Addison and asked, "Any idea when they'll be better?"
Looking at the man who had cause the problems earlier, he slowly took in his appearance, thinking he would be good as a partner for above ground missions, since his aunt had taken to going alone, with out himself or her mate Ian. "And will he be....ummmmm..." Kailen scratched his head as he thought for a term..."fully...normally functional?" he finished lamely.
